So, yesterday was my birthday. Stacey got me lotsa nifty weird DVDs! So far I've watched 'Cat Soup' which is ... ... Umm... Did I mention the cover of the DVD is a clear case and has water and 'blood' in it and little pictures of the character so you can squish it and make the characters swirl around... It's ... interesting.

As the throw-away gift, she got me a collection of what I at first thought was going to be some VERY regrettable early 1990's made for saturday mornings stop-motion animation.... "Bump in the Night" The first episode was indeed grating and way too marketing heavy with buzzwords and cool catchphrases. I assume it was the pilot. The rest of it was.... Surprisingly well animated (except the lip synch) and nicely surreal and irreverant and subtely perverse. I'm totally in lurve with Molly now! She's a sort of freaky patchwork doll (Like Sally of 'Nightmare Before Christmas') but unlike Sally, she has a fairly developed (and pretty darned cool) personality. Somehow I find her strangely hot and sexy. It's the kind of animation that wouldn't get on TV nowdays. Er, so anyhow, once you get past the first episode (and the grating Scatman Cruthers wanna-be that they chose to voice Mr Bumpy) it's pretty darned rockin'.

Favourite quote from the eps I watched: Molly: Mmmm. Much as I love being tied up and intimidated by Destructo, it's probably time to call it a night.

Looks like it only survived a season though.
