So. Launch went perfectly yesterday and all my code is running well. Everything is going well but I'm staying pretty busy. It's kind of weird and I guess it hasn't really sunk in yet that the vehicle is finally really in orbit. In a lot of ways it's way more relaxed than a sim, and there isn't as much to do so it feels really weird. I keep trying to find more work to do because I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels now.

May I just say congratulations on a successful launch and that it's super-cool someone I know works at NASA. I don't think I've ever mentioned how cool it is before :)

Heehee. I'm way low on the totem pole but I know what you mean. Lots of days I'm like, "OMIGAWD!!!! I KNOW HIM!!!!" models and movie stars have never got me excited but geez! Knowing someone who piloted some of the Pioneer probes.... That really swells my head. :)

Yeah, you're like a mini-celebrity to us!

So, now what? Is your department going to keep going with the probe up? What's the length of the mission etc.?

Congratulations on your success so far. My father used to work at Rocketdyne and got to help out in his own small way with both Apollo and the Space Shuttle. Now you know how he feels.
