Well,

I think the weekend was pretty good. Saturday was more slack than I'd have liked it to be but I got to spend a lot of quality time with my spouse, and Sunday was pretty productive, so I guess I won't be too down on myself about it. Stacey baked some banana bread and helped me map out where I want to put all of the garden stuff in the yard. We need to start our seedlings pretty soon. Going to try cleaning up the closet to free up some plastic shelves so the little plants can sit in that. :)
Sunday was nice. We spent a good while doing some much-needed house-cleaning (the house is still a mess, but it's moving in the right direction) She made us nachos for lunch, then we went on a long hike on the dikes at the salt marsh. I took photos of three different types of ducks, two kinds of geese, and saw several more types of waterfowl, as well as getting some really up-close looks at Sea Hawks. Very cool.
All in all the salt marsh is a very surreal place. On one side, there's reeds as far as you can see, and on the other, dikes and levees make of the broken debris of the city, the water reclimation plant, active radar dishes, and Moffet Field (Airforce Base) off in the distance. It looks almost exactly like one of the landscapes you run across in Battletech computer game. The retaining walls and breaks made from old street lamp posts, and chunks of concrete and asphault were most surreal, I think. Its weird to see broken bits of city used to make 'natural' type structures. Almost like big mechanical beavers had hewn down a bunch of steel and built their lodge with it.

I didn't get any animation done this weekend and only very little drawing. I've been working on a piece for a friend and I've become obsessive about making the scene look like a real bar so I've gone a bit crazy with the mise'en'scene, right down to the stained glass in the lights over the pool tables. *sigh* It looks better the more stuff I put into it, but I really need to move on to other stuff. On the other hand, maybe it's good just to do some real drawing again for a bit.
There is so much art study I want to do, I drive myself crazy trying to find the time. I need to learn to make my animation characters more fluid and have some sense of style and personality, I want my line drawing work to have that added style as well. I need to learn to use ziptone for comic stuff. I need to study other people's comic layouts and build some ideas. I need to write! I've got a bunch of unfinished stories. I have a couple of movies I need to script and storyboard and produce, and tons and tons of other things. Augh. *sigh* Maybe what I really need is some kind of central life-organizing dohickey that lets me efficiently time-slice all this stuff into a time frame that fits the time I have available. Okay. I'll try writing all this out in a seperate post so that I can think about it in a more orderly manner.

Work is so much easier than life. I've been really productive at work today. Limited number of tasks and desires, I can budget out the time for everything and just do it and get it done. My project is looking really cool now. I can't wait to see how users react to the new upgrade. It has a bunch of new features.

My post is really drifting sort of stream of consciousness. School tonight, it's 4PM, I'd better wrap up stuff here and head out in about an hour.
