Ouch

It's like God's way of taking Valentine's Day and just RUBBING IT IN on all the lonely geeks out there."

How cruel!

Ya know, even as someone who has a someone, I hate Valentine's Day. How gross is it that some people have to have a single day to be forced to express gooshiness and romance towards one another. We have it almost every day without being pushed to do it.

The picture was probably taken several weeks ago, but only revealed Thursday because of some human's urge to celebrate V Day using God's display, much like holding a bundle of plucked "look-they're-pretty" wildflowers up to a TV camera instead of bringing the camera down to the undamaged flowers and their natural "look-this-is-prettier" setting.

Still, in this picture: I see a burning rose like the burning bush of Moses, its flames rising like the fingers of a mighty hand. I see the touch of Michael, Archangel of Fire. I see the kind of math that makes physicists smile in their sleep, the sort of sign that makes gardeners dream in awe of growing shining stars in their plots. I see a stellar gift of deep and abiding beauty presented to all who can see it, and all who can hear of it.

How cruel that some temporal hand chose the wrong time to reveal this. How sad that only V Day would get it noticed by public relations types in the first place.
