Cargo's post on LJ reminded me of something that happened a few weeks ago.
Do you know Paka? Did you know that he's probably a hero?
A few weeks ago, he and I were at a renegade rave way way out in the woods and at one point during the evening while we were walking, he noticed that someone has discarded a perfectly good white boy in bushes. I was kind of off in my own little world but he snapped me out of it by asking if we should check on him. You know... It was mid-40s outside that night and the guy was in jeans and a tee-shirt and laying on the cold ground. That's a recipe for hypothermia in a pretty short amount of time.
The guy was really really out. His temperature was still good and his pulse and breathing were okay but he was definitely rather drunk. It took a good minute or two of nudging him to get him conscious and a little bit more to get him un-disoriented enough to know where he was and such. Then we sent him to sleep it off in his car so that he didn't freeze to death.
Thanks to Paka's good eyes and concern for everyone, it's quite possible that he prevented a whole lot of misery. But I bet he hasn't mentioned it to anyone or he's even forgot all about it. That's just the sort of person he is. So... For both Cargo and Paka. Salut! You're awesome.
