Note to self: Offline more
Feb. 2nd, 2010 02:13 amGranted, it's been nearly 2 weeks since I spent any serious time catching up on LJ and the like but still. I got home around 6, I did maybe an hour worth of work on work-related stuff, and it's now 2AM and I've spent the rest of the time reading LJ and catching up on various things. That's pretty sickening. 7hrs? That's at LEAST a half hour a day of time frittered away that could be spent on bigger projects.
However, what's considerably more upsetting is the knowledge that this is probably the most efficient blog waste I'll see. Two weeks of stuff in a clump makes for a lot of skimming. I don't reply to as many posts because someone else has already said what I would have said, I skip over less interesting things, I don't click through links to other sites and youtube videos as much, I don't waste as much time on ego, reloading to see if anyone responded to my post or comments, and so on. I wouldn't be at all surprised if I wasted as much as 3 or 4 times that amount of time on a per-day basis. Time that could be much better spent doing more awesome stuff.
Why can't I just share a hive mind with a few interesting beings so that we can instantly communicate our passing thoughts and experiences without all the time wasted by our current primitive communication tools? *sigh*
