Pixar's up and Marketing props

Normally I despise advertisements. I go out of my way to avoid them. A major part of why I don't watch TV is that I just have better things to do with my time than watch ads for things I don't want.

But. I'm going to make a small exception and give props to whoever did Disney/Pixar marketing for UP today. I'm sure they're hoping for a viral by bloggers and I figure I'll acknowledge that and give it to them.

So... There's a shiny modern white dirigible flying over San Jose right now that's advertising for UP. Since I'm all in favor of gas airships and think they have a lot of potential for low-cost low pollution transportation and shipping, I'm definitely giving them a ping.

Not to mention, it's a great idea. The premise of UP is sailing away in a house via Helium balloons, and advertising in San Jose area today is a very clever plan.

The weather is beautiful and as [livejournal.com profile] prickvixen mentioned, apparently today is 'Bike to Work' day (I bike every day so I don't pay a lot of attention to this) So... More people outside for longer periods of time, mean there will be lots of extra people for buzz generation. Very sharp strategy. :)

*nod* When you bike, you notice things, because you've got the time to.

Except she noticed this as it flew over our house, and I drove her home between runs to the porcelain goddess. Alas.

I looked up dirigible fuel consumption last month and I was surprised to see that a dirigible uses as much fuel to cross the Atlantic as does a jet airplane.
