I hate leaf-blowers.

*sigh* I really hate leaf-blowers.

My new bike didn't come with tough-strips in the tires and it's that time of year when people with leaf-blowers blow all their crap out into the street, including the thorns of an invasive plant which exists only to kill bicycle tires.

Stacey replaced my rear tire last night. Today I'll be walking my bike the 2.5 miles home with a front flat. $%^#@!!

Around here they are thick like carpet. I use kevlar tires with thorn resistant tubes and tire sealant.

Yeah. I usually just do the tough-strips. Most of the time they won't go through that. I hate the slime-tires. They're heavy and take a lot of the springiness out of the ride.

Heh. I figured you'd have commented on my Charming post from last night, not this one. :)

I run my tires at triple the recommended tire pressure. I have no springiness to my ride.

Well, sometimes the rims blow apart from a stress fracture down the spoke hole line. I get a little springiness then.

You're a speed demon, aren't you? :)

How fast do you get going? I typically only average about 18mph on uninterrupted level ground. I can sprint to just over 30 but not for very long. Though I'm on a mountain bike too, so that's probably part of it. :)

I'm on a 1982 replica stumpjumper. I don't go fast, but I do like the lack of rolling resistance. I tend to toodle around at about 12mph.

Special inner tube coatings are the only cure.

Ugh. At least you don't have Locust trees around, I'd hope?

When I lived in nebraska, they were all over where I was living, and so were their thorns. Tons of them, just waiting to destroy in inner tube or two. Or a shoe. The things were able to punch through a lot of stuff. x.x

I was almost ready to get one of those solid innertubes at one point, but we moved away from that area before it came to that. >.>

I just finished taking the rear hub of my bike apart, and I really want to pull the freewheel off, but need a squareish X tool or something similar to do so. So in the meantime, just using a toothbrush to clean everything out and off so I can regrease and reoil it all.

Annoyingly, the axle bolt thingey is bent on one end, meaning I need to get a new one. _-_ Mew?
