Poll dancing
Oct. 10th, 2008 12:19 pmYeesh. As McCain slips in the polls, the right wing is getting exponentially more hateful in their campaigns. More and more, their hate and racism is rearing its ugly head as they keep trying to assert Obama is a muslim. They're so angry that Obama has not played the race card. They were counting on being able to scream about that and mask their racism but he hasn't and as their guy slips in the polls, so too does their mask begin to slip and we see the true ugly face of america behind it.
I wonder how long it will be before they start blithering about succession.

Date: 2008-10-10 08:29 pm (UTC)I feel sort of embarrassed about kinda wishing they would. You know, they could make their own Jesusland in the southeast, or something, and they could choke themselves on lousy environmental policy and poverty and having nothing even vaguely like enough DOT funds or whatever, and they wouldn't be a tax burden to the rest of the country. But it is never that simple and besides, some good people would probably be stuck with them doing that (as opposed to the way the same good people are screwed now).

Date: 2008-10-10 09:09 pm (UTC)Here's what will happen. The right wingers will blame ACORN and refuse to accept the legitimacy of Obama as president, even if he wins by a landslide, which I expect him to do at this point. The fury being whipped up by the Republicans, mixed with economic crises that Bush caused, is going to be blamed 100% on Obama during his first term. Even if Obama is successful, 80% of the country will love him, 20% will want him dead, and 1% of those will act. The Rush Limbaughs and Ann Coulters will openly call for Obama's assasination, if they're not already doing so by the election.
The federal government will be regarded by conservatives as the implacable enemy, the way it was in the 90s under Clinton. There will be many more Oklahoma City bombings if nothing else. The militias will come back with a vengeance. They were shooting solely at Mexicans for the last few years, they're going to go back to shooting at FBI agents.
The GOP is inevitably morphing into a white supremacist organization.
I hope Obama has good Secret Service protection, and that his Secret Service crew are not Republicans.

Date: 2008-10-10 10:42 pm (UTC)As soon as the election is past, they'll drop that tone as fast as possible. Think about how bad it would be for the Republicans with the House, Senate, and Presidency going to the democrats, Biden as president, and the sympathy of the nation for Obama.
I've spent the past 8 years advising people on our side that killing Bush would be the stupidest possible thing they could do. You can bet there's at least one person in the right wing noise machine who's also smart enough to come to the same conclusion.
The next few weeks will be a dangerous time for Mr. Obama but after the elections, they'll turn quickly to curb their rabid dogs.

Date: 2008-10-10 10:45 pm (UTC)The Southeast has excellent weather. They don't deserve it. They can have Alaska, Utah, the Dakotas, and maybe tornado alley since they're in such high concentration there anyway.
