I'm not given to kicking over sandcastles even if they are made by fools.
In the Silmarillion, Ainur decreed that the dwarves should be destroyed but when the hammer was raised to smash them, they cowered and showed fear, proving they were capable of their own thought and not mindless slaves without purpose. It was decided they might yet have a part to play and they were spared. My lifeless golems would not run.
I know they mattered to me in some sense and that this world needs more magic and beauty, and I know the idea of making them to give them to others in this way was a good plan, but right now I just don't really feel it. It's hard to feel magical and beautiful when nothing I could do kept my little one from wasting away. :(
