Seen on the way to work today

Around here, there are lots of places that have some poor guy standing on the side of a street waving a sign for an apartment complex or store.

This morning there was one waving a sign for a computer repair place.
He was wearing a full-body silver fire-proof bunny suit... O_o

I've seen a lot of those as of late -- and in really crappy weather too. Sign-holders include:

Tax preparation office (usually a guy dressed as Uncle Sam)
Little Caeser's Pizza (their $4.99 hot-n-ready deal)
Furniture store (going out of business clearance sale)
CompUSA (also going out of business clearance sale)

The pizza places don't hire someone to do it special. If no one is at the counter, the poor counter clerk is sent out to the street... Whoever is lowest on the totem pole, at any rate.

I signwaved for two places selling houses for a bit. It actually pays kinda surprisingly well; $10 an hour if I remember right. On the down side, it's only for usually just the weekend.

's far as pizza places, yeah...it's usually a 'hey, you're not doing anything and we're not busy. Go stand around waving a sign!'
