Burning Shame

OMG. I am _SO_ embarrassed. I've spent most of the my free time the past two days reading this: http://www.talesofmu.com

Let me try to describe it... If you've ever read a Sweet Valley High book, imagine that set in college with elves, fairies, and lesbians.

If you haven't read any of those (or are wise enough not to admit to it) it's like if you took the parts with Willow and the other really fay characters from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and put them together in a story.

You may now lower your opinions of me accordingly.

Sounds like MZB writing fanfic. And you know how I feel about fan fic...

*reads* Not exactly brilliant but I keep clicking the 'next chapter' button. Does anything ever, you know, happen? Besides innuendo and scene-setting? Or is it all about school cliques in a magic college?

And now it's turned into sexual/kink awakening and I CAN'T STOP REaDING ARGH.

um yeah i did more than just fan myself at those parts.

I ran out all my batteries and am waiting on the recharger. Fanning and pruney fingers are all I've got left.

THIS? You'll read this? And not my stuff?

Lowers opinion of you accordingly.

Christ, I could barely keep my Ol' Red Pen off the monitor.

Well, you did read the first draft of that vampire thing that got completely rewritten and ended up in Best Lesbian Erotica, so I guess you're partially forgiven.

I suspect that this is pushing the same buttons in me that Harry Potter pushed in a lot of people. This does not by any means mean that it's good or well-crafted writing.

Plus I don't feel like I have to read it closely enough to offer useful critique.

[identity profile] dv-girl.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
I have to agree. This is trashy romance-novel with a lesbian and fantasy bent. The writing is good enough to keep me interested and it tickles my kinks enough to make me want to read it.

KIDDING KIDDING KIDDING KIDDING KIDDING!

Grabs your boobs and smooches you tenderly, then turns into a sunbeam and bathes you in warm lizard-approved light!

You also read SV! How could I ever think of you as anything but a goddess?

Also, did you notice that we made it into today's Jerk City?

I can't believe you would read such trash full of elves and magic an high school drama, and ... and lesbian elves.

No, no I won't give in and lower myself to reading even a single word of it. I'll keep my mind pure with high minded Russian literature. Oh Doctor Zhivago, what jam have you gotten yourself into this time?

'tis a fun story, isn't it? n.n; I've been a regular reader of it for a couple months now. It's definitely a fun and entertaining bit of writing.

Hello stranger! How've you been? I never see you any more.

[identity profile] sci.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I once read a Sweet Valley High book.. ¬_¬;

/me points and laughs (except of course, I'd had to have read them at least one to have made the comparison in the first place)
