The 'return to moon by 2018' thing has been discussed back in September 2005 -- are they still planning it? I know nowadays any kind of major venture like this that doesn't seem to have direct and immediate profit is constantly eyeballed by congress and cut any time money gets a little tight. The SSC suffered that same fate and the previous Bush's dedication to go to Mars quietly vanished long ago.
