Ruined Scores

A weekend of working with GarageBand and music is pretty-much ruined for me.

Now when I listen to the radio, I'm suddenly hearing all the cheap samples and drum machine beats. A lot of music has nothing. Just vocals and that isn't much.

Instead of listening to stuff and enjoying it, now I'm hearing it in terms of "I could do that" or "That is WAY above my skill level." (most stuff is still the later)

iTunes even has a nice little export to sheet music feature, meaning I can even clean up my annoying whistling, print it as sheet music, then learn to play it on a physical instrument so I can add more emotion to it.

I think, of course, that I am going to have to approach this rather sparingly and stay focused on the stuff I really want to do (audio tracks for my animation) because I can spend way way way WAY too much time on something musical and not really end up with anything good.

Well, think of it this way: It still takes some talent to know which combination of samples can still create a good song. :) The more famous DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Junior Vasquez do it all the time :)

Well, there's your mistake - you're listening to pop radio in the first place.

I'm forced to any time I go to the movie theater (part of why I hate going to the movies)

But actually I was referring to some experimental stuff Ashy and I heard on a college radio station. It sounded just like the stuff we'd been making. (Not in a good way)
