Maya Incomplete

GRRR.

Realized that they only sell Maya Complete for Mac OSX, not Maya Unlimited.
No fur, no liquid, no cloth.

Guess what things I really wanted in Maya?

What's annoying is they sell it in the pro version for Linux but not the student version but they DO sell
it in the Student version for *cussword* WINDOWS.

So... That version is an extra $200 plus I'd have to waste a fortune on XP professional. Umm. No.
Shave and Haircut (a really top-notch fur plugin) is $500 and runs on MacOS.

the other option, of course it to write my own. MacOS comes with GCC and Maya comes with an API. I read the white paper and compiled a 'Hello World'. How had could it possibly be to write my own fur renderer? (famous last words)

Bah.. run on Win2000.. there's no good reason to be using XP over 2000 =P

mostly correct.

There are a few reasons you'd want to use XP rather than 2k.

...if you were running a system for parents/grandparents/youngyoung children/etc.

...cause it's cartooney, does stuff for you, and such.

on the technical note though, it _is_ a little more advanced...though still not worth it, if you ask me. one of the diferences is that it lets you enable DMA mode on drives without having to restart. ...although there are probably more, 's all the one's I've found that would make life more interesting from the point of view of a geek. ^,^
