Blizzard are powerful enough that they can get positive product placement in South Park! Fear them!

To my knowledge it wasn't product placement, South Park just wanted to slash at the game. And Blizzard sorta shrugged and went "Okay, whatever dood."

Well, it's obvious that the writers didn't actualy play the game, since the script is more about $generic_online_game, so Blizz went out of their way to get their game put in the show.

If Blizz had actually gone out of their way to put their game in the show, it'd at least be accurate. And it's really really really easy to get emulation software to do it yourself to make the video. Machinima Cinemetographers do it all the time.

Well, besides the leveling up by killing boards, they got it mostly right. (Well, and the handing of the sword of a thousand truths, unless it didn't soulbind on equip)

The commentary was on gamers, not WoW specifically. WoW was just the vehicle they used and Blizzard gave them access to do Machinima.

The in game section looked a lot more than the client is actualy capable of, so I suspect Blizzard actualy did those sections for them.

Again, you don't NEED anything from Blizzard to do machinima. It's all out open source at this point. The Machinima artists do it all the time. Take a look at...

The Machinima folks do WOW-movies using WOW game assets right off the hard drive. Blizzard encourages this sort of thing with contests and prizes. Blizzard doesn't need to *provide* jack, it's all out there already.
