Weekend Stuff
Jun. 19th, 2006 10:06 amTurned out to be a very nice weekend.
Friday I'd planned to do some art and hang around online but Stacey had missed her WoW because she was working on a building project. She was also lacking a couple of pieces to finish it, and there were some things I wanted from the hardware store anyhow, so I suggested we go for a walk. The store is about two miles from our house but it was a nice balmy evening. So we walked to the hardware store, did our shopping, and then stopped at Baskin' Robbins on the way home so Stacey could have some ice cream. Then she finished up her project while I did some stuff on the computer.
Saturday, I woke up early and forgot we needed to go to the storage locker together, so I did some programming and stuff until Stacey finally woke up and reminded me we had to go to the locker. I had plans to go biking at 3 and it was like 1:30 but she got dressed real quick and we ran to the locker and got everything packed in and put away and still had time for a quick lunch. Got home at 3:15 and I really didn't want to drive, so I hopped on my bike and covered 8 miles in about 40 minutes to get to my appointment with Rai. It really felt nice to be biking in the heat. I so love warm weather. I could feel all of my muscles opening up and stretching out. Such a good sensation.
Anyhow, since Ashy's house is between Rai's and mine, I dropped in on her on the way back and we went for a walk and I had some pho before finally bicycling home around 9ish. took a shower and spent the rest of the evening online. Decided I wanted a KVM switch so I could use my big monitor on both computers without having to unplug everything so I suggested to Stacey we bike to Fry's Sunday morning.
Turned out I'd broke another @#$%ing spoke on my bike, and Stacey's tire was flat but why let that stop us? I tightened up the two spokes on either side of the broken one to straighten out my wheel and pumped up her tire, sticking the mini-pump in my bag and we set off! :D At Fry's we got the KVM switch and a cute little rice cooker that only does up to 3 cups (compared to our current one which does up to 10 and is way way bigger than we ever need) It was really cheap, so we got it.
Then, since we were in the area, I wanted to show Stacey some cat tree things so we biked up to lawrence and looked at them. While we were there, we also went to the hardware store and got some bicycle innertubes and a new lock so I could fix the silver bike and Stacey's. After that, to Udupi Palace and had some good vegetarian indian food. Stopped and picked up a present for a friend at another store. Then finally, home.
Fixed the silver bike and took it for a test drive. Surprisingly not bad though the gear shifters are a little weird and would take getting used to. Also the bike is really tall. Anyhow, if it fits a friend decently, I can give it to him. If not, I dunno. Might keep it as a backup bike or donate it to charity or something. It's actually not a bad bike at all.
After that, took a shower and then we worked on cleaning the bedroom. Got quite a bit of serious cleaning done AND we went through two entire old boxes of papers and receipts and found the ~5 important documents in them and then destroyed over a decade of kruft! WOO!!!!
Wound down the evening by folding laundry, making rice porridge in the new rice cooker, and doing the dishes.
Perhaps not a very exciting weekend, but it was hugely productive and I got a lot of exercise. Yay! :)
