HoooooooooonkWHAM

Yaaaaay!

I got hit by a car today!

So. Let me back up for a sec. The power went out at LL. I was able to get some work done because I've been working late and copying my code to my notebook and working there and I only had one file out of synch between my notebook and my desktop and I was able to copy it before the UPS gave out. Anyhow, I worked for about an hour and a half and had some pizza. It became clear the power wasn't coming back on any time soon and one of my coworkers was driving home and offered to drop me off at the train station.

So I took the ride because it's faster than the bus and it's raining and I'd forgot my umbrella. Anyhow... I detoured through Safeway to stay dry and called Stacey to see if we needed anything from the store. Then I waited in their doorway for the light to change and ran across the intersection.

There was a bus in the inside lane and some schmuck in a silver SUV blew right through the crosswalk to turn right... Just as I was running through that space. Screee! Hooonk! Wham! and I'm on top of his hood. Idiot. I then proceeded to punch his hood about five more times and I think I dented it. Other than that I'm fine. Fortunately, he hit the side I carry my bag on and I've got so many books and things packed in it that it makes a pretty good shock absorber (and this helped me verify that my packing strategy does in fact protect my notebook pretty well since it's okay too)

Might have a bruise later... On my fist! >:D Still. It was a nice solid impact and if it'd been the elderly chinese lady walking across behind me, he might have really hurt her.
I hope I dented his car good. What's he going to do? Go to the police and say, "I ran down a pedestrian in an intersection while trying to make a turn without stopping at a red light and she hit my car!" Fuggin' SUV.

Ohwell. I'm fine, and hey, I'm leaving work early instead of late for the first time in almost two months! :)

So, did you get his info, or was it a hit and run?

Guess I should say glad you're mostly okay.

Since, ya know, I am.

I like to think I'd do exactly the same thing if a moron in an SUV ran into me. Brava!

Also I'm very glad you're not, you know, dead.

Eep. Glad you're ok. Hooray for books!

I was about to ask how your car is, then I realized YOU got hit, not your car.

D:

That has to be satisfying, punching his hood, though. :D

Glad you're ok. And things like that is why I always wear good heavy boots when I'm on my motorcycle. Bootheels make good dents in car doors.

Wow. I'd have put my fist through the glass if I'd been run up on some asshole's car hood unhurt. A dented hood doesn't have to be replaced...

Bloody hell. Glad you are ok,and i have to say, i'm right impressed with how you handled it.

I had that happen once while I was on a bike, but you know that already.

eeep! glad to hear you're fine. I got knocked down by a guy in a car somewhat recently too. The guy was pretty silent till he saw the nice dent in his fender my body made. Its no fun, I would not wish anyone being hit by a car.

oh, and I don't think I was even sore afterwards. I wear protective gear.
