Today's lolz tomorrow's bad news.

This story is funny for now but it won't be in six months. Here's what will happen.

Some idiot democrat is going to propose strong anti-gun laws of some sort, using this event as a thinly disguised lever.

Idiot right-wingers are going to see through this thin ploy and go apeshit and completely fail to see something else their good gestappo is doing. It'll energize the right wing (which maybe be feeling fat and sassy after the supreme court nominations)
and it will get them out in droves to vote against democrats in the 2006 elections, compared with a weaker and fragmented turn-out by the left and it will result in even MORE power for the right wing.

Really, Cheney couldn't have possibly chosen a better time to accidently shoot someone.

The worst thing is that it's not even a conspiracy, people are just that stupid. :/

Call me paranoid if you like but mark this article and set a reminder for yourself to look back at it in mid-November.

I have to agree, its cheap. The best it can do is end up as a laugh on the daily show, probably where it should stay.

Its not something to get all worked up about, Cheney just comitted the sin some hunters end up comitting, mistaking someone for game. Its not a reason for gun control, just a reminder for people to be more responsible when using firearms, maybe for people over a certian age or not with the best eyesight to think twice about going hunting.

Well, in this specific case, he didn't make sure his range was clear while he was following his bird - and shot behind his group, catching his friend while his friend was catching up to the group in the spray of the bordshot.

It's a dumb, but common mistake. Not quite as onerous of shooting someone instead of game, but...

...Maybe a good joke could be made of him being careless.
