Need to find a decent online weather report for the bay area so I don't have to watch news daily.

Need recommendations for a good 'offline' livejournal thing that I can write entries with while on the train and post when I get to a destination.

Clean house, do laundry.

http://www.wunderground.com/ is probably one of the best online weather sites, even better than the National Weather Service. If you want more than just the basic forecast, they have all kinds of technical charts and data available, and they provide data from tons of personal weather stations (like mine). And you can get forecasts and weather warnings in e-mail.

If you're interested, I can get you a free membership, which removes all the advertising from the site.

I use xJournal. It's not perfect - can't select an icon when you're not hooked to the net, for instance - but it maintains a searchable local copy of your history. Doesn't do any kind of WYSIWYG posting. Gets current music from iTunes.

If you want to be geekier you might want to look in the 'command-line', 'application-level', or 'miscellaneous' section of LJ's client download page - wanna update from EMACS? or the command line? You can.
