Motorcycles

*sigh* I was talking with some people about motorcycles and I started to lament that I don't have a small bike to ride around on. Aside from the fact that my 900 doesn't run, I just don't LIKE it. It's never really felt right riding. It's just too big/heavy/powerful for me.

Just for curiousity, I browsed e-bay. *sigh*

If I had the money, I would SO be buying this bike!

It's just too cute/adorable and exactly the kind of bike I want.

Heh. On the other hand...

There's also this

Okay, not only is it a 1949 Indian, It's Steve McQueen's 1949 Indian. Jeezuz. I'd sprout an 8" dick and handlebar mustache if I just sat on that bike. That's gotta be the most manly machine on the face of the planet. I mean HOLY CRAP. Steve McQueen! And It's a 1949 Indian Arrow. A bike famous for breaking men's legs or throwing them over the handlebars when they try to kickstart it. That's one BAD ASS bike.

I think I'd rather have the cute little Honda. I suppose I should have a new job first tho.

Oooh! I really want to get back mobile on a motorbike. Want to do something with my leathers...

I'd love to learn how to ride a motorcycle at some point. It just sounds like less fuel consumption and an instant way to get to know people, and my one experience driving one felt like a nifty exercise playing with centripedal force.

What was it about the 1949 Indian Arrow that made it accident prone? It looks like a pretty safe design from the photo.

It's not accident-prone, it's powerful. It doesn't have an electric starter, you have to kick-start it and if you are a little out of synch with the motor when you kick it, it can knock the kicker back into you and break your leg or pitch you off the bike. You need to be a big strong guy to turn it over.

Is there a patch where you could install an electric starter without utterly ruining the bike's structure? Did all bikes from that era work the same way?
