Making Movies at the Speed of Light

Okay, much slower than that, but I do feel pretty fast today. I kept pretty tightly on schedule this weekend. This directory Contains all the work I did for the guy for his movie. The ones titled 'Comics' were some different concepts that I presented for different drawing styles and comic book genres. Worked with him from there and produced the rest today.

I can't believe how fast I've gotten. I mean, I came up with an idea, drew, inked, and coloured like 7 pages in about 6 hours flat. These photos aren't fantastic because I just took them with a digital camera but... Geez. I can now draw characters and hands like a total bat out of Hell. I'm stunned. I knew my draw time for characters had gotten down for about 3 minutes each to do the pencil roughs, but everything else has gotten similarly fast.

I also expiremented a bit today. I did my ink washes using rubbing acohol to thin the ink rather than water. This made it dry a lot faster so I could work areas that were close to one another in a relatively short time. On the negative side, copic markers do not seem to be resistant to acohol, but on the whole, very groovy. I'm pleased.

That's incredibly fast. The reasons why I picked up looking were working directly on the paper, having a simpler style and fewer panels. Would you have any other suggestions for cranking that much work that quickly, or for that matter getting motivated and staying motivated?

I dunno. Not sure how I stay motivated. Sometimes I think its because I can't have children, really. Must create in some other way, I guess..
