It's ATOMIC!
So... My old alarm clock started acting odd a couple of weeks ago and has decided finally to start missing alarms so Stacey bought me a new one a couple of days ago.
I didn't chose my old clock, it ended up with me. I believe it originally belonged to Keely. There are some other digitial alarm clocks in the house. One belonged to my grandfather (who died several years ago) one to my ex boyfriend (Chris) and Stacey has one that's exactly identical to the one that belonged to Chris. Before that, my parents gave my brother and I identical clockradiotelephone things. Which come to think of it, I've just realized a major flaw in my parents 'fairness' scheme. For our 'big' christmas presents, we got identical things like this. The same stereo, the same clockradio thingy, etc. Seems fair. Except, he is 3 years younger than me, so he was ahead of the curve on 'cool stuff' for kids his age or I was behind the curve, depending on the things. Monetarily the gifts were the same but socially, they were quite different. Interesting to think about.
Anyhow, this was the most reliable of the clocks in the house and only other one that's both fairly functional and doesn't hav ea lot of bad energy vested in it is already in use in the office. So Stacey picked out a new one for me.
When buying it, I had said it didn't make a difference, a clock is a clock. In hindsight, maybe not. She got one that uses the atomic clock to set itself so I don't have to bother. Also, it has a green display. All of the other clocks are red. I was surprised how much happier I felt going to bed int he cool green glow. i've always foudn the red kind of eye hurty and hateful but... It's an alarm clock. You're supposed to hate it. Also, the alarm on this clock is soft and gentle, a very nice sound to wake up to, unlike the old clock which had a grating alarm that hurt my ears.
I like this clock a lot better than the old one. It's strange to thing that it might have such a weird effect on my mood though.

By the way, do you realize that I had to activate the Japanese font in my IE just so
I could get rid of the little boxes that appear on your LJ's "add comment page"?
Just for you...
Anyway, yeah for alarm clock with green display!
I don't know why the bulk of alarm clocks have red, baleful displays.
Maybe you're right, maybe it's because we're supposed to hate them.
Green is a good color for displays. I use green for my HUD in "Free Space 2".
I have a green LED fan in my new computer (it was cheaper than a regular fan too).

Red light equates to blood, sex, danger.
Red LEDs are cheaper, lower energy where as other colored require more energy, hence more expensive.
^-^
Now if only I could get the atomic clock signal...

The only problem with atomic radio clocks is they tend to have rather sucky reception during the daytime (it is shortwave, after all), so be sure to install the backup battery or you might not get a time signal until late the next night if the power goes out. (It doesn't help any that my house is lathe & plaster, so it's a kind of natural Faraday cage.)

It's a nice alarm clock. A sweet alarm clock. A clock I don't want to throw against the wall and smash into itty bitty pieces. I love advanced technology. The clocks are our friends.
