Initially, the plastic globes over Peggy's tits were held on with suction. Which, while pervy, wasn't all the practical. One wrong move and a plastic boob went crashing to the floor. In addition, she wanted wings. So I thought about it a while and woke up the Wednesday before the con with a flash of inspiration and quickly laid this out (I did the original with pencil, compass, and a plastic angle but I can't find it so I recreated with Illustrator.

Full-size pattern for the wingmount and back of the Insect's bra (fits on 8.5x11 page)

Basically, the solid lines you cut, the dotted lines you fold, and the grey places are rivots or grommets (The open ones are grommets, the solid ones rivots) The base of the wings are inserted into the pocket made by folding the circular part. the gromets are where the bra straps attach. Shoulder straps to the top holes, chest band to the lower holes.

Initially, I used 2 60 degree angles for the wings so they were in a more downward position like a moth. Peggy changed these to 90 degree angles and I think it works better. You could actually even go wider than this and make them perk up like butterfly wings. (Alternatively, you could just turn the pattern upside down)

The rest of the bra was pretty simple but is probably not adequate for figures with a more full bust. Basically, the bra-cups (which started this whole project BTW) are another of those plastic christmas ornaments that have a spiral of florescent green pipe cleaner glued inside them. Holes were burned in the plastic for the band between the breasts, chest band, and shoulder straps. A long zip-tie connects the two cups in the middle. Short loops of zip-tie are attached to the top and sides which just have clear plastic bra-straps hooked through them. (Using your basic bikini-top style of hook) I actually pulled these straps from two bras obtained from Target which had interchangable colored and clear straps. I think they were like $4 each. the chest band is actually a shoulder-strap off the second bra. It is doubled through the grommet to make it shorter and sturdier. Both the side and shoulder straps are adjustable, making this design fit just about anyone.

Just to be 'hall safe', we also made her a pair of pasties from some bathroom suction cups and painted them with a solid color and adhered them with gum arabic. These were great as they looked more like nipples than actual nipples! ^_^

Peggy designed and decorated the wings, cutting them from scraps left over from building the skirt.

All in all, I think this was one of the easiest parts of the costume.

...even if it kind of looked like a Lego figure accessory. :)

The pasties were really funny. Seeing in them profile nearly got me in trouble, because they're a lot bigger and perkier than mine ever are. Even when I'm really, really turned on.

This costume would not have happened without you.
