Another attempt at a con report.
So. Wednesday before the con I had a wreck, to make a long story short, this cost me $700 and a couple days work and completely drained away every penny I had for having fun. I'd also spent all of my time leading up to the convention working on FCTV animation and Peggy's costume and stuff for PostVixen. Wednesday night I got smashingly drunk. Probably needed to do something like that but I still feel a bit guilty about it. I was hung over Thursday but went to the DMV and got a bunch of stuff finished up.
Took Peggy to the convention hotel at about 8PM and went to an FCTV meeting. Except, of course, I missed the meeting. Con Ops was out of straps for badges so I went to reg to get on and they gave me a bag of them and sent me back to con-ops. I finally got to FCTV, got my orders for the next day and a pretty cool tee-shirt.
Next I schemed out a way to capture the Post's room number innocuously. Peggy knew when their flight arrived and I knew about how far it was to the airport from the hotel, so I had her and Jon walk inside until I found an angle from outside (where the shuttle bus stopped) where they could not be seen through the windows from outside but from inside you could see the bus. We waited there for the shuttle carrying the Posts. In the meanwhile I'd been monitoring how long check-in took. When they arrived, I just waited for them to get into the hotel plus an allowance for check-in time and then 'happened' to walk past just as they were leaving the registration desk. Got their room number and told them I'd tell Peggy once I finished running an errand for FCTV.
I went on down the hall, then cut around the loop that comes back up on the other side of the reg desk and back to Peggy.
From there we went to the car to get costumes and to the less-used public bathroom to change. We got her costumed up and went upstairs. The delivery didn't go as smoothly as it could have. We'd forgot the secondary package and the blank clipboard. We improvised with Peggy's PDA but then the door wasn't answered until we'd given up waiting for an answer so my timing was way off. (At this point, I was wearing all black and a white expressionless face.
I went home and got the other package and my second delivery was smoother. By this time, they'd moved to the lobby so I ended up delivering the plain brown paper-wrapped package in front of a crowd but managed it reasonably. (This was the package that contained the 'secret project' IE: the outfit I'd been sewing for PV) I ended up going with them to their room where they took several photos of Peggy and I helped PV try on the costume. The corset was not the best fit but the skirt worked out nicely.
All in all, I think Thursday was the best part of the convention for me. I got to bed around 3AM, got up at 8AM and went to work for a few hours, then back to the con at 4PM to do some FCTV editing. Of course, the files weren't transferred from tape so mostly I just fiddled around and did a fat lot of nothing and felt generally useless. I wandered around a bit later in the evening and saw a few people but in general I didn't do anything useful or interesting.
Saturday I toured the dealer's room and artshow with Stacey and in general tried to spend time with her because I realized I'd been missing her and being very negligent of her in the previous few weeks. I ran into the Posts, Jon, and Peggy at the art show but sort of tried to avoid them. In part because there's friction between Stacey and Peggy and I was trying to be non-critical of the art, and in part, just because I wasn't invited and didn't feel the need to make myself a 5th wheel. After that, I ran home to get something for Kiala (see other post) and then I spent some time up in FCTV and did some title animation and did some video editing, then Stacey and I danced for a while at the dance. it was reallly nice and reminded me of old times. She and I need to get back to doing more active things together as just the two of us. We went home around 2 and she made me a light dinner. Was nice.
Sunday... I don't recall all that much of sunday. It was pretty dull, I think. We got up late. I was realizing I hadn't seen a lot of people I wanted to and in general everyone seemed kind of weird and aloof. Funny atomosphere. I wandered around a bit and was generally kind of down. I wasn't really _doing_ anything at the con. I picked up a couple of sketchbooks in the creator's lounge and drew in them. One was Perlandria's, the other had no name in it I found but was 'things to do with tea' so I did some overly complex victorian scene that I was actually rather pleased with, but I'll never see it again, probably. Oh. I shared the Drulliet book with the Posts and later I drew some rather not-like-me-at-all Drulliet -inspired pr0n. Eventually, Stacey came and found me and we went home and I made her dinner. Again, it was nice to have the quiet time.
Monday I didn't spent much time at the con. Just long enough to pack up my computer and take it home (and stuff of Julia's friend) Then I went back and got Peggy and company. We stopped briefly at the house and then I drove them all up to the city. We hit Madame S and Stormy Leather and I got some interesting ideas for Stacey which I need to take her to and show her. Then we went to the japan-town mall and after that, the Castro. On the way home, I made a series of wrong turns and came home by way of Oakland and Gilroy. Somewhere south of San Jose, I was off the highway in a quasi-industrial area and I came across the oddest thing, 'Spartan Gas'. The sign had no numbers on it, the inside of the building was brightly lit, white, and empty, but the pumps were active. No people, no ammenities, no signage. Spartan indeed. How curious. I'll never find that place again to investigate it further.
Tuesday I slept in late then did my homework. Posts treated us to dinner and then we drove them to the airport. Stacey got upset with my driving and lost her temper (which hasn't happened in a while) but it made their last few minutes here rather akward and I feel pretty rotten about that. Dropped Peggy at home, went to school and got some special form to pay late on my tuition. Yay! got an A+ on my first assignment (double yay!) and started working on the one that's due tomorrow that I'm not sure how I'm going to finish in time. Went home and worked on my assignment more, got to bed around 1ish, found that Stacey was running a pretty high fever (and hadn't told me) and took care of her. Her fever broke just before I had to get up to leave for work.
I'm at work now. Class tonight, meeting this afternoon. Things are returning to normal. probably just as well. There's been a lot of weird stuff in the air the past week and in general, I've not been having the most fantastic time.

And here I thought you loved me just that much :D
Yes, the T scene is wonderfully complex, I'll bring it by some other week so you can scan it.

I guess I just work best with themes so I was hitting the theme books. I wish I'd gotten to AAA's 'Stare into the void' one. It really would have suited my mood (but it was absent when I went to get a second book so I ended up picking up yours instead)
