I like pure blacks and sometimes the feel of a ballpoint pen but I want to draw with something that isn't so smooth, something that lays down a heavy black but sticks and makes little sucking chapping noises like a grease pencil, but I want to be able to turn the page of my sketchbook and not have it smear or stick to the previous page and make a negative.

I want a media like charcoal that I can spread with my finger but I don't want it to get my hands dirty and be something I can use when I've only stopped for two minutes and again I don't want to use a fixer.

I want a metal barrel rapidograph that I never have to clean.

I want a watercolor and gouche set that fits in my pocket and doesn't get muddy with a brush that has a good tip and cleans out easily. Maybe a brush pen filled with water that I can just squeeze until it's clean. I think I could make this but I don't want to spend any money on it.

I want the time to use these things and learn and keep learning instead of buying and holding and using not nearly enough.

Maybe if I just had some ability that would be enough.

Mediums make themselves known as you struggle with them, I've tried dozens over the years, with some successes and some horrid failures, and here I am doing everything in Photoshop when a few years ago I swore I would never work that way because pure Photoshop wrangling didn't look organic enough.
