Book reviews
Apr. 25th, 2011 12:09 pmI posted this to my FA journal but I doubt anyone reads that, so I thought I'd repost it here for the people who might be interested:
Went looking for decent anatomy books for drawing.
What I found was Anatomy Drawing School by András Szunyoghy and György Fehér.
A couple of the drawings are slightly off model, particularly with regard to thumbs, the finished figures are a little unasthetic IMO, and the text is kind of small but other than that, I can't say enough good things about these books. There are lots of really good renderings of the bones and muscles and how they fit together and both verbal and pictorial descriptions of the ranges of motion, how weight is carried, etc. Really helping me resolve a lot of issues with the shoulders and clavicle that I've been faking for much too long.
In my opinion these books are far superior to the Burne Hogarth books and really worth checking out. Flat out, they are the best anatomy books for artists I've come across so far.
