Yesterday I mentioned the Totoro Forest Project at the Cartoon Art Museum.

Turns out, they have the art available in an online gallery too, so if you're not able to get to San Francisco to see it in person:

The other show currently running is Gene Colan, which Jon might be into. It was good solid work, but I must confess that most super-hero artwork sort of slides off my eyes. There are a few exceptions. I liked some of the weirder stuff he'd done like Howard the Duck, but all the major title pieces just kinda... I can't remember them. It's weird.

I think perhaps I was so overwhelmed by the Totoro stuff that it was hard to get my head back into the critical space needed to give his work its full due. I wouldn't mind going back if anyone else has an interest in going. ;)

Scanned this guy ages ago and he's just been languishing in my 'Todo' folder. I'm not sure what it is, but there's something about him that I find very appealing.

Anyhow.. A friend needed some help on with some photoshop kung-fu and I didn't remember exactly how to do what was needed, so I grabbed the first sketch I ran across and fiddled with it until I remembered how to get the effect they were looking for. In doing so, I did a crude paint-job of this guy, decided I liked it and cleaned it up this evening.
