Sort of a strange abstract piece I did in my sketchbook a while back. Decided to play around with it by first making a vector drawing in illustrator and then throwing it into photoshop where I added a canvas texture layer and then used (for nearly the first time ever) the Liquify tool with some masking. I tried to make this piece all about really subtle texturing. I really wanted to put brush strokes over the canvas texture and use illustrator as nice clean mask lines but photoshop doesn't have a good mechanism for that and, try as I may, ArtRage just continues to infuriate me. Every time I think it should be able to do something, I find myself wrestling with it for an hour and then giving up in despair.

Still. I think I'm pleased with the result even if it isn't perfectly what I pictured.

The last of the nine old men has gone.

Say what you want about Disney but those guys were great.

April 14th officially sucked. :(

Man. Yesterday just blew. :(

Not only did Ollie Thompson die, so did Will Paicius.

You probably wouldn't know him. He was a Disney animator for a while, but he was also a really great teacher who taught me a lot of stuff about animation.

I was looking forward to my next class with him. :( De Anza's animation department won't be the same with him gone. :(
