pasithea: glowing girl (Default)
Sooo... I got up way late today, showered with Stacey and then made biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I scanned through the TV listings and saw a show titled, 'Velvet Goldmine' on IFC which was something about glam rockers and thought, "Oooooooh!" I was not disappointed! I kept the kitchen door open and made dough for pizza crust and did the dishes while Peggy and I giggled at the show and admired some of the outfits. I kept thinking, "Ashy would get a kick out of this movie." Anyhow, somewhere during the show, we starte gettign sillier, I made some remark and Peggy said something about wearing satin and things went downhill from there.

Lurking in the back of my closet for the past several years was a gold satin blouse I'd bought at a closeout sale on a lark and never worn. Put it on Peggy and she posed and we laughed and had to do more. I ran and got eye liner, mascara, and lipstick. We laughed our way into the bathroom and pulled out the Ben Nye stage makeup and started doing bigger, bolder, and more garish make-up until Peggy was covered in black curls that would have made an egyptian goddess envious and I was stark white with severe red lines circling and crossing my face and high dotted eyebrows. I ended up in the gold blouse, front all the way open with a string of glossy pink christmas bead-strings for a necklace, peggy in her coat and a miriff cut Hello Kitty shirt. I think it was when we got the bright idea to paint the insides of our mouth by taking drops of food colouring and swishing them around that we'd really gone 'too far'. So of course we ran over to Ashy's house. :)

Dragged Ashy here for pizza and costuming madness. As I'd hoped, there was a ring at the door. Julia with the next Dr Who episode. The look on her face when we answered the door was priceless, I grabbed her and hissed, 'Bring us the doctor!' and pulled her inside. By this time, IFC was rerunning Velvet Goldmine. Turned out AShy had not only seen it but owned a copy on DVD. We left Julia watching it and went to get Bruce for Dr Who. Came back, finished assembling the pizzas and baked them, ate much pizza, and watched Dr Who!

The pizzas were good, I think. The crust turned out surprisingly good. The biggest success seemed to be the 'Ragin Cajun'. Shrimp scampi and Louisiana Hot Links, Cyanne Pepper, and minced garlic, red sauce, and mozarella. I also made a pineapple and black olive and a spinach, toasted pine nuts, green onion, bell pepper, and fresh oregano one, and a last one that was leftover toppings from the other pizzas.

After Dr Who and pizza, we watched bad transfers of an even worse 80's show, 'Misfits of Science'... I'm ashamed to say that when I was a kid I remember making a point of watching this show when it was on and at one point, even throwing a bit of a fit because I didn't get to see it one night. OMG is it bad. The only good thing I saw in it when we watched it tonight was one of the women had GIANT PAPERCLIPS as earrings! How cool is that? I totally want giant paperclip earrings! Everything in the show was stolen from other movies and shows of the time, there wasn't a single original piece to it. It's like X-Men meet the Breakfast Club. Scenes ripped straight from Ghost Busters, Indiana Jones, etc, etc, etc. It was horrible. And the only thing that could have made it worse was commercials! Fortunetely those were in ready supply. whoever made the original copy pulled it from Sci-Fi channel in ~ 1993. Sci fi channel played a lot of good shows back then. Also, some amazingly bad commercials. Also... The station IDs.... Took me back to a different time and place, when I was homeless, ended up staying with Scott. So weird to think about how messed up my life was back then and be looking at it now, with a house full of friends, laughing and having a good time. Definetely a warm fuzzy for me tonight. If you have to remember a really bad time in your life, being surrounded by people you love and being happy and laughign with them is a great thing. Take that bitter old memories. Kerpow! You cannot harm glamrock girl! ^_^

I think I'd better go to bed now. It's 5 in the morning. :D
