Elliptical Orbit
Oct. 31st, 2004 10:29 amI'm not sure how long I worked yesterday. I know I got to work around 9AM and came home around 1:30AM but I don't know if it was the first or second 1:30AM. I subsisted on instant miso and Atomic Fireballs that entire time. I got my code done, got the testplan done, and did a quick runthrough of the testplan. Last long hours at work for a while. Still have to write a position paper though.
I've definetely been coding too much. This morning when I awoke, I was dreaming in code but worse than that, what coalesced in my mind was an interpreter and linkage program make Nethack into a Quake-like FPS but retaining all of the nethackiness. Also some stuff for how to handle lit rooms and everything else. Augh. I do not think I'll code this as it looks like a lot of work but it disturbs me a bit that it got programmed in my head.
Also, still reading Toon Art in the moments of spare time I have had. I'm liking it rather well. Particularly the section which has work by different artists, links to their website, and a short interview with them on their work and the process they use.
higginsdragon recently wrote about a project in his illustration/animation class where he's given a word and supposed to find or make a picture which demonstrates that word. This seems like a really good drawing exercise for me as I often feel stuck for an idea and a single word taken to an extreme is an easy motivator to get me to work.
Actually, I think I'm going to expand on this concept a little more by cross-referencing it with stuff I've seen that I like and try drawing not only the word but drawing it in the style of whichever artist. I suppose I probably ought to spend a couple of minutes and create a randomizer that spits out a word and an artist so that I don't tend to 'cheat' and chose words that are too easy or artists that I can easily imagine drawing that word.
First though. I have a few things to do. 1) Finish Stacey's costume. 2) Finish Free as a Bird. 3) Clean house.
I'd best get cracking.
