Raising the barcode
So.. This is my current lesson for the Illustrator class I'm taking
I admit, it isn't terribly exciting, there's no shading and the barcodes aren't really large enough to look like they're part of the stripes and add interest that way but here is what I realize about this artwork.
1) The sketch took me maybe 10 minutes and the Illustratoring another hour or so.
2) This drawing is easily twice as good as any other piece my instructor has shown us from previous classes for this project.
So what does this tell me? I think it tells me that I'm competitve and by that token, being around furries has actually been a positive thing for me. I've looked at a lot of art by other artists and I've learned from them and thought of ways to improve, the bar keeps being raised by the artists I know. Look at the 'best' furry (fan) art from 10 years ago and see what's out there now. the bar has been raised so much that while I still can't surpass it in this community, in the world of community college telecourse students, I am a queen.
In turn I have noticed in my art classes that any class which has at least one student that really accels, other students will pick up pursuit and work harder to match the first student. Let the SA guys sit in their mother's basements and ridicule furries all they want, I'm better for knowing them.
