Last night I re-photographed the linework for the bunny.

After all the fiddling in flash, the output really wasn't acceptable. Much too wiggly.

So now that I've learned about droplets in Photoshop, we're gonna do it in that instead.

I also sat down with Stacey and had a production meeting! She'd not gotten around to colouring on the bunny mostly because of communication issues with me (Not only am I small and petty, sometimes I don't listen either)

So.. We discussed and developed a scheme for making operations run much more professionally.

Tha List!

  • Layout of cel numbering often inconsistent! Pre-print across the bottom of the cel:
  • Project: Project Name here Sequence: Layer: Frame#:
  • Physical folders hard to identify at a glance. In addition to text tab on folders, add 4"x3" sticker on front of folder with the storyboard scene on it.
  • Paperclip dope sheet(s) to inside front of folder.
  • Make a seperate camera field guide sheet for the shot and camera notes.
  • Attach on top of dope sheet for completed animation.
  • Record animation-stand tick counts relative to field guide or last photo
  • Make Color Guide, create adobe swatches palette of color guide
  • Project Folder Layout:
    Master Folder
      Color Guides
      Model Sheets
      Scratch
      Storyboard
        Revision-MMDDYY
      Pencil
        SequenceName
          Layer[A,B,C,etc]
      Ink
        SequenceName
          Layer[A,B,C,etc]
      Paint
        SequenceName
          Layer[A,B,C,etc]

So. I'm retroactively applying all of this to the bunny. O_O Lotsa administrative work but it needsta be done. Stacey said the color guide (Or lack thereof) was the main hangup for her so I went ahead and made a combined one for the bunny. The Adobe swatch palettes are pleasantly small. The one for the bunny is a whopping 760 BYTES. :) That means if I ever conned more people into doing ink and paint, I could easily just batch off a folder or two to CD along with the palette and ship it to them and have everyone working off the same stuff. :)

I'm honestly starting to feel that it IS possible to make real animation this way. :)

Anyhow. I have lots more work to do. So I'll close with a copy of the color guide for 'Magic Portal' so people can finally glimpse what this project might look like when its completed!

Stacey bought me dollar-bin music when she was in Santa Cruz last week!!! Lilith Fair 98, Clitstop, and a Santa Cruz 'Support your Local Musician'. Yay! totally eclectic collections. I so miss the second-hand book and music stores in Santa Cruz.

We used to go and buy piles of $1 and $2 CDs and funky 60's Sci-fi books for 50 cents a piece and then have a good time listening to/reading them. Some are even pretty good! :)

Hahaha! It's the attack of the mini-posts day!

I cross-linked my VCL art folder to my LiveJournal and my website. I wonder if it'll attract any nuts. :)

Ooooh! I also just discovered that I can just cut and past from iTunes to the current music line. :)
Life is good. I think I'm gonna make some food now and surprise Stacey. :)
