Pete Knight, author of the California Defense of Marriage Act died today.
Much as I'd like to organize a group of people to go and dance on his grave, I realized what we really ought to do is start a campaign to send cards and flowers to the effect of, "In death, may you finally find the peace you never found in life, and may your God forgive you all the harm you have done others."
Bury him with pink cards and flowers. Show people like Fred Phelps that we are better than they are.

You spoil the fun in being godless!
;)
BTW, hear about the town of Rhea (Tennesee I think, same place as the Stokes monkey trial in the twenties where the school teacher was prosecuted for teaching evolution)? A little while ago their city council passed a law declaring homosexuality to be a prosecutable crime, calling it a "crime against nature". Gina just ran across an article on Yahoo detailing it ... seems it only lasted two days before a massive public outcry caused it to be struck down. The outcry gives a bit of hope.
Still, when questioned about why they passed the law, most council members claimed they thought it was only a bill supporting the "marriage protection" crap running rampant now. Yeah, right, I believe that.
