You know... I love having a house instead of an apartment, even if it is a duplex and my yard is teeny tiny. I started working on my garden a few days ago (late, I know, but I'm going with gallon-pot starts this year instead of from seed)
I was going to water my starts, and turned around to find, just about eye level, not more than 2 feet from my nose was a very worried-looking dove hunched down over her nest in the bow of the cherry tree. I quickly scooted back several more feet so she wouldn't feel so threatened or be startled away. :} I like critters I guess. Anyhow, 's neat. I love the sounds doves make and they're soo sleek and pretty too. soft downy cloudy grey with just the slightest hints of peach. They remind me of the early morning when I'd be out hiking as a child.
Yay for yardness!
