iDVD 4 is not my friend. >:(

Okay... I foolishly upgraded from iDVD 2 to iLife '04 (which includes iDVD 4) I guess I've become complacent with Macs and everything just always magically working and being wonderful.

iDVD2 trashed my animation project file. Worse, they don't even have the styles I used to create my old project, nor do is it support some of the old formatting options. It also does not have a method for uninstalling iDVD 4. Unlike every other mac app I've used, dragging it to the trash and recycling it does not meet its qualifications for 'removing' the software. Nor does deleting every reference to it found with apple-find. iDVD 2 installer says 'I can't install over a newer version'... So basically I'm fuxxor'd. :( Several hours of menu editing down the drain and I have a DVD order I was supposed to mail today and I do NOT have the six hours to create new menus. :(

To add insult to injury, when it deleted my customizations it defaulted them to this gawdawful ugly-ass 'Wedding' style. How nice! Remind me I can't marry my lover. Perhaps next you'd like to give me a papercut and pour lemon juice in it!

F***ing bastards. *sigh* This is the first time EVER I've been this angry with a Mac program. What happened? Did they hire some assholes from MicroSoft or something?

Actually I was similarly ticked with the iMovie 1 to 2 upgrade. It seems Apple feels with their "consumer" orientated programs that they need to be self contained and be a general pain to work with anything outside of their interface. Their "professional" stuff is cross-compatable with everything in existance. I suppose this is some brilliant marketing person's idea of getting folks to pay for higher pro stuff once they've "outgrown" the simpler stuff.

Meh, and it sucks too because their consumer apps are capable of so much.

Could you back up your important data on a CD and then reformat the computer? That's sure to take care of crap-program 4.
