Yay and boo.

I won the camera stand thing... At $110. Feh. I woulda gone up to $150 on it so I should be happy.

Except in the last 10 minutes some poozer made 5 successive bids and drove the price up. So if I hadn't been at work and waited until the last 5 minutes to set my real highest bid, I would have paid maybe $50 for it.

Gah. I hate people like that. Geez. Place one bid for the amount you want to spend and walk away, don't get overcome with some stupid gambling rage and bid it up up up beyond what you really wanted to pay. I mean sheesh. I know the temptation is there. I certainly feel the quickened pulse when I get outbid and wanna bid higher but ya'know. I don't. There's other fish in the sea. (Admittedly, this is a really freaking good fish but still) Learn some self-restraint and control.

Bah.

Ohwell. Even at $110 it's totally a steal. New, just the camera head costs $300 and the light table another $150 and the lights another $100+ So. Rwak!

Now.. How do I build my frankenstein? Mount the composite on top of the Bencher table, or mount the bencher lights and camera dolly on the animation stand and have a seperate light table for use doing whatever. :)
I think I like the later plan better and it's a lot easier to implement too.

Five successive bids? If I were writing auction software, I'd only make it count the first of consecutive bids by one person. Which means they'd better get it right the first time, because they can't bid again until *after* someone else outbids them.

eBay's software lets you place the bid, then compares it to other people's listed highest bid.

Which means you can bid x amount, then it says "Whups! You've been out-bid by someone who placed a higher reserve bid! Sucks to be you!" until you enter a bid or reserve bid that's higher than anything anyone else is willing to pay. :p

It's a great way to lose auctions that you're bidding on. Or get a price driven WAY past your range almost instantly, via the "Hey, that's not a bad price... *bid* uh...no? *bid* ...crap. *bid* ...!@#$!#%!#$. Out of my range. Figures."

'course, I prefer Furbid's way of doing it. "Bidding ends at the listed time, or ten minutes from the last bid."

Makes bid snipping SO much harder. ^^
