Poison Pill

The whole wikileaks thing depresses me. Want a prediction of the long-term results?

If the 'poison pill' gets sent, nothing will happen. There's nothing shocking or incriminating enough to surpass the power of the mainstream media or be promptly forgotten/forgiven in politics. Even if it's live video of George Bush snorting cocaine off Pat Robertson's penis while skull fucking Saddam Hussien's corpse, you can bet that immediately, half the population will cry hoax or make up some excuse and even if the other 50% demands action, you can bet that nothing will happen. Those in power protect their own It'll be spun, debated, downplayed, and diverted until anyonw who expresses outrage about it is mocked, ridiculed, and made light of. Apathy is power.

What will happen though is that some group or another will play up nationalism and stuff and start asserting that this whole freedom of the internet thing is a bad idea and some large telecom companies will offer to step-in and monitor things asa 'neutral' 3rd party. Meaning of course, they'll charge for content and provide special deals to their business partners and accidentally squelch people who disagree. The banks have already shown their willingness to eliminate people. I believe that's what's started the current round of retaliation.

Of course, EVERYONE is guilty of something so there will always be a justification for these little adjustments.

Did Assange rape someone? How should I know? That's a matter for the courts. Not myself nor Paypal, Mastercard, etc.
