Yay!

About a month ago I swore I saw a zeppelin. My friend thought I was mistaken and that it was just a blimp but the size and dimensions of it made me sure it was a zeppelin.

Well today my entire office just saw it. It is in fact a zeppelin owned by airshipventures and based at Moffet field.

There's even a tracking site for it. Woot.

http://www.airshipventures.com/tracking.php

People telling me I don't see giant airships everywhere. HA!

What is the difference between a blimp and a zeppelin?

How could anyone doubt that dirigibles are stalking you when you say it's so?

Also, I couldn't find on the site what gas is used inside the zeppelin, which would be my first question when deciding whether to travel on one or not, as if I recall correctly, filling a blimp with a combustible gas and then waterproofing it's outside with jet fuel is a bit of a fire hazard.

It's also possible that you saw a zeppelin, AND you're crazy...

Well. For starters, 'Zeppelin' is a much cooler word. It's a word crafted out of major awesome and it has a great word score in Scrabble.

Of lesser note, Zeppelins are rigid-body airships whereas blimps are soft-bodied.

Nah. I think knowing the approximate volume of helium required to lift a certain amount of mass makes me saner than half the country (given the whole Balloon Boy episode a couple weeks ago)

I've long thought that someone should try to resurrect the idea of zeppelin travel. Imagine being able to travel across the US high enough to have a great view and slow enough to actually see things. People already pay a small fortune to go on cruise ships, why not zeppelins?

Ya, that had a booth set up at Macworld Expo. I signed up for their raffle to win a ride. But unfortunatly, all I won was a constant spam mailing from them to buy their well over $1000 2 hour ride...

i'm definitely going to remember that word. i have about 15 scrabble games going on my iphone..all the with the same person, but more z and q words alway helps.

what sucked is i had "quartz" in two different games. i never get that combo, and then i get them both at once....anddd

i tried to find a place to play, but i gave up after 3 turns of crappy plays.

It's kind of complex and reads (http://gawker.com/5320454/the-google+cash+swapping+orgy-blimp) sort of conspiratorial, but Airship Ventures is funded and/or co-owned by Google and apparently there's apparently a few crossbred ties between the companies.
