If I only had the money to rent a ballroom...

If I only had the money to rent a ballroom, I'd be working on an impromptu masked ball themed after Poe's Mask of the Red Death.

I'd require formal period dress, of course, and grotesque masks. My own would be a stylized sow pig with a horrific grin.

You know it'd be awesome.

I'm just growing bored of the 'OMG class 5 pandemic flu!' stuff. A party with lots of people (thereby increasing the risk of getting sick for anyone attending) that is themed after Mask of the Red Death just has such great sick and macabre appeal.

Hmm. That's a good idea. Like one of those free flu vaccines for the elderly or something.

Kind of takes some of the twistedness out of the concept because it'd possibly do more to stop the disease than spread it, but I could go with that.

Not sure how many charities would share my sense of humor about a pandemic though.
