So. I'm having one of those days where I feel like I look good. (Happens now and then) I'm dressed kinda pseudobutch today. Dark blue levis 515's, dark brown sketchers, white tank top, sports bra. Oh heck with it. I just made Stacey take a photo of me Not exactly as good as I feel but it gives ya the idea. Anyhow. I was walkin' down the street today and realized that I felt really good. I like being tall today. I walked really upright 'n' just sorta enjoyed the sun. I used to hate my height so much but now I think of it as one of my more attractive features. (By tall, I mean 5'9" BTW) Still. I'm a good head taller than most women around here. Anyhow. Its funny. I used to feel really insecure about wearing an active sports bra cause it makes me look almost flat chested but today I was enjoying that look and being taill, and having short but groomed nails. Yay for positive body image! :) I'm sure I'll feel that I look like a dork again tomorrow so I'm gonna enjoy this while it lasts.

Did I mention I kissed a monkey yesterday? Er. Well. Okay. Not a whole monkey. Just some monkey lips. :) Our instructor brought several of the replacement mouths for MonkeyBone to class last night. They were so cool! Resin casts! I wanted to steal one but I didn't. Anyhow, there was a kissy face one and just being the wingnut I am I went, "OOOOH! *SMOOCH*" Ista lucky thing that animation students are all weirdos and people just thought it was funny. Various people were also trying the mouths on their ears and such like.

They were very cool. Basically just a registered resin cast of an original sculpture. I'm not sure though if they were two-part mould and detailed with a dremmel tool or if they were a 1-part using a lost wax cast type of thing. I guess they must have been 2 part moulds now that I think about it, but they were way way way above my skill level. O_O

To wrap up animation news for the day, I got a lot done on the cat yesterday afternoon and I read a book on working with clay so I'm feeling more armed on that. Especially for sets and lip-synch.

Oh! 'n' Stacey bought me a 14ft Firewire cable so now I can move the camera around my work area and get much better shots and lighting. Yay! I'm gonna try to do a couple different animations this weekend. Wirehead skating around and shouting, "WHEEE!!!!! WHEEEE!!!!! LOOK AT ME!!!! I'M FRICKIN' GUMBY!!!!" and then plowing headlong into a Physics book. I think I'm also gonna try doing some Strata Clay. I have a semi-ambitious idea for an FCTV thing. I may wait a week on that though.

Err. right. Did I mention that Film Finals submission deadlines are next Thursday O_O No problem. I only have about 3 minutes of cat to animate. (Witness my dillusion) Oh... And I ran into my digital video instructor from the fall quarter and he strongly hinted that I should clean up and submit my 'Sam Antha: Private Director' movie. O_O... Eeee. Well. I think I can only submit stuff from winter and spring quarters so I may be off the hook on that one but he definetely expects me to submit something, so I'd better get back to work on that darn cat.

*sigh* 'kay. I thought it was just Law and Order: Criminal Intent that'd gotten stupid but the regular Law and Order in primetime is totally unwatchable. :(

So, like when did they fire the good writers and replace them with conservative ditto-heads anyhow?

In this episode, they're making a thinly veiled stab at the whole Michael Jackson child molestation story. Lots of implication that all gay men fantasize about and rape children. Hurray! Stabs at Bill Clinton's first MONTH in office. I mean come on. The make sarcastic comments about what a $200 haircut would look like, then what sort of person would have one (more homophobic rhetoric) and segway right into the child molestation.

This is a fine example of spin and bias. The right wing squealed like stuck pigs that Mr Clinton got a $200 haircut right after he got in office. They have CONTINUED to make a stink about it to this day. Hence the much more subtle media whoring of Shrub getting a $6 haircut with 'good common' folk. But to STILL be seeing it subtly hidden in stuff TEN FUCKING YEARS later. AND being used to ever so subtely associate 'evil liberals' with something as vile as pedophilia REALLY bugs me.

Call it paranoia if you like, but hey. A fun exercise is to take any political news topic and examine the spin on it. With news.google.com it's much easier than it used to be. Read two or three articles from flamingly conservative sources about the topic. Then read the same number from flamingly liberal sources. Are people ProAbortion or Pro-Choice. Pro-Life or Anti-Choice. Is something believed to be fraudulent or possibly true. Pay close attention to how the words are warped to fit a particular viewpoint. Then go out and watch the mainstream news and your local news and look for references to whatever topic in TV. The results are extremely disturbing.

Sigh. Law and Order used to be good because it would often present the spin the the form of debate between the DAs but this episode and a couple others of the more recent ones I've seen have been nothing more than a conservative mouthpiece with which to spew agenda. :/ Think I may ditch cable soon. TLC and Discovery and stuff have been taken over by dullish guy shows like 'The biggest hardest battleship' and 'Some rednecks build a destructive vehicle.' *sigh* I think I'll go read a book. :/
