i am so glad to hear you got in. It sounds like it is going to be a great class -- I hope you get into the painting one as well.
When I bought my camera the store talked us into buying a different brand camera and charger than what came with the camera, and it was a good investment. I also heard that the batteries that go into this charger (http://www.rayovac.com/products/recharge/recharge.shtml) are supposed to be long lasting, and an hour recharge time isn't bad at all. I TRY to remember to keep a spare set in my camera bag at all times because digital just sucks the life out of batteries, I would imagine video even more so. Or do video cameras use their own chargers? Are spares expensive? (See, I really do know diddlysquat about video cameras!)
Glad I got you moving with ideas, and now in class you should be at no loss for ideas, with all those students and a teacher. I hope I get to read/hear about your projects as the year goes on.
