Flash = suck, yes. Most of my pro Flash lore is how to avoid huge bugs.
Alpha makes for slower Flash movies, especially on the horribly unoptimized Mac player - tint stuff instead of alpha whenever possible, if you can get away with it. Clipping is ass-slow, too.
