I probably should have mentioned this sooner but I'll be New York for a week (arriving Wednesday morning)

Never been there before. I'm not too interested in the standard tourist traps though it sounds like I'm going to get dragged to the empire state building whether I like it or not.

Anyhow, what's there to do in the city that never sleeps? Particularly for the person that never sleeps?

I figure I'll hit the Guggenheim, MoMA, and Museum of Natural History but all of those are daytime things that close fairly early. Is there anything to do in the evenings that does not involve greasy food or alcohol? A play would be nice. Stacey's sister (who we're going to visit) is at Vassar studying theatre-related stuff so that would work well but I suspect those require more planning and are likely out of my price range.

Hmm. I guess that http://theater.nytimes.com/venues/broadway.html suggests some of the shows are close to affordable if I went with the cheap seats. I'm not sure how I feel about a broadway musical of the Addams Family. Doubtlessly based on the TV show, not the comic. 'American Idiot' sounds tempting and there's something delicious and rotten in the idea of seeing a musical based inspired by a Green Day song. Looking at the show list though, I can't help but feel like Broadway is nothing but a tie-in for corporate marketing interests. Where's PEPSICO the Musical with witty songs about McDonalds and KFC?
